Ways to Give

Your support makes our work possible.

Allendale Columbia School opened its doors as the Columbia School in 1890 with 13 students in a small private home, followed by the Allendale School in 1926. Today, thanks to AC's visionary leadership and the generosity of our donors, Allendale Columbia School is a vibrant academic community.

Enduring philanthropic support has guided the course of the school's history. Every gift to Allendale Columbia School serves the same mission: to provide a transformative academic experience that inspires our students to lead and serve in a complex, changing world.

Thank you for investing in Allendale Columbia School and in the lifelong success of our students.

  • Stocks, bonds, or securities

You can make a bigger impact at AC by donating long-term appreciated securities, including stock, bonds, and mutual funds, directly to AC.  Compared with donating cash, or selling your appreciated securities and contributing the after-tax proceeds, you may be able to automatically increase your gift and your tax deduction. As with all gifts, you should consult your tax advisor to confirm the best option for you.

If your broker (or bank) holds your shares, you may request that they be transferred directly to Allendale Columbia School via DTC (Depository Trust Company).

  • Donor-advised funds

Did you know that Allendale Columbia accepts gifts made through donor-advised funds? Just ask your fund manager to transfer funds to AC.
  • IRA charitable rollover

If you are a U.S. taxpayer and at least 70 1/2 years of age, you may make gifts directly to Allendale Columbia from your IRA without having to include those funds in your adjusted gross income, thus making the transferred funds tax free.

Distributions, which count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD), must be made directly from the IRA trustee to AC, and the individual maximum is $100,000 per calendar year. Let your advisor know that AC's federal tax id is 16-0983166.

For more information about this opportunity, contact AC's Development Office at development@allendalecolumbia.org and consult your tax advisor regarding your individual situation.

Brokers and IRA administrators don’t always include donors’ names on stock transfers and IRA distribution checks. Please let us know to expect a gift and indicate any designations so that we can identify and recognize your gift promptly.
  • Planned gift or bequest

Planned gifts may consist of cash, securities, life insurance proceeds, real estate, and/or personal property.

For more information about this opportunity, contact AC's Development Office at development@allendalecolumbia.org.

Maximizing Your Support

Matching Gifts
Many employers match charitable donations made by their employees, employee's spouses, or retirees. Check with your company's human resources department to see if your company matches gifts.

Monthly Gifts
Give a larger gift by making smaller monthly payments instead of a one-time contribution. These payments can be automatically charged to your credit card.

Volunteering
Volunteer your time in addition to your treasure and help AC galvanize support for the Annual Fund. Contact AC's Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement at development@allendalecolumbia.org to learn more.
