  • Lower School Literacy Teacher (Grades 3-5)

    Allendale Columbia School (AC) seeks a collaborative and creative teacher to be part of AC’s Lower School team. The person who is hired for this position will work closely with teachers, specialists, and the Head of Lower School to further develop our inquiry based, student-centered literacy program, focusing on grades 3-5. The ability to assess and address individual needs in foundational literacy skills are qualities that the successful candidate will possess. The Literacy Teacher will focus on enhancing literacy instruction that builds students’ literacy skills, and enhances students’ engagement and ownership of their learning.
    Major Areas of Responsibility:
    • Meeting with teachers to co-plan for effective literacy instruction
    • Helping to select reading materials and writing assignments, and to create lesson plans, rubrics, and curricula
    • Understanding of the development of phonemic awareness and phonics instruction
    • Documenting and using data generated by assessment results to identify areas of student learning that may require further instruction
    • May facilitate professional development for teachers on specially designed days
    • Monitor the progress of students 
    • Being able to provide differentiated instruction when students’ needs or abilities are outside of grade level expectations
    • Teaching Grade 3-5 Literacy in collaboration with another teacher
    • Working in collaboration with the Head of Lower School, other teachers, specialists, and staff members to ensure appropriate implementation of student-centered learning
    • Effectively communicating with parents, AC leadership, faculty, and staff about student needs and progress

    • Other responsibilities include: assisting with dismissal and attending faculty meetings
    Qualifications:
    • Masters degree (Reading Specialist endorsement preferred)

  • Lower School Teacher (Pre-primary through 2nd Grade)

    Major Areas of Responsibility:
    • Teaching a Lower School class (anticipated vacancies in Pre-Primary - Grade 2) in collaboration with another teacher;

  • Middle and Upper School Counselor

    Allendale Columbia School (AC) seeks a Middle and Upper School Counselor who serves as a critical member of the school community. The counselor delivers and monitors interventions to support students in meeting and surpassing their individualized goals. The role will include providing core services to students and staff in prevention, consultation, intervention, and assessment. The counselor will work as part of the student support team and work closely with faculty and staff. The ideal candidate will have school experience and outside of school clinical experience.
    The essential duties of a school counselor include, but are not limited to:
    Ongoing support to the school community including:
    • Serve as a resource for students, faculty, and families related to social and emotional challenges
    • Provide Social Emotional support to individuals and groups as needed.
    • Develop and implement curriculum for social and emotional development/intervention with students.
    • Refer, monitor, and evaluate individuals and families to external resources and services
    • Provide crisis intervention and behavior management to expedite students’ return to classrooms for learning and to build students’ ability to meet all social, emotional and academic expectations
    • Administer records, documentation, and other compliance activities.
    • Engage with outside providers related to specific student needs and challenges
    • Make referrals when necessary to outside providers
    • Collaborate with other support team members and be a resource to one another
    • Communicate all necessary information to appropriate members of the school community
    • Participate in team meetings about students’ and their needs.
    • Attend division meetings and full faculty meetings; participate in school-wide and division-based committees and ad hoc committees where necessary.

  • Visual Arts Teacher

    Allendale Columbia School is seeking an experienced and dynamic educator to teach Visual Arts (traditional and digital media, film/digital photography, 3D). We value experiential learning, and we foster an atmosphere where the curriculum is developed and refined to reflect the most up-to-date research and pedagogy. The ideal candidate has experience offering individualized instruction to meet student needs. This appointment will begin in late August for the 2025-2026 academic year. 
    Candidates should have hands-on classroom teaching experience with a variety of grades of students. This teacher will be responsible for several art courses that offer both traditional and digital media, as well as photo, 3D or sculpture. Candidates should be comfortable communicating with students and families in a variety of ways, including the use of web-based lesson plans and management tools. This teacher will need a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and photography, including darkroom experience. Additional duties will include supervising students in a variety of settings, participating in the many aspects of daily school life with the art department, and planning multidisciplinary lessons with faculty. 

    Major Areas of Responsibility:

    Creating curriculum and course materials that are current, interdisciplinary, culturally responsive, inclusive, and engaging;
    • Effectively teaching various levels of Visual Arts;
    • Engaging the student body through various opportunities, including family-style lunch, the advisory program, and sponsorship of student activities like clubs or other student-run events. 
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in an art-related field required with a master’s degree preferred; NYS certification in Visual Arts preferred.
    • Minimum of two years teaching and advising experience; 
    • A natural curiosity to learn and collaborate as well as a willingness to design new courses and curriculum;
    • Capacity to teach the entire range of course offerings;
    • Knowledge of current pedagogy and technology use in the Visual Arts; 
    • The ability to change and evolve to meet the needs of students and constantly strive to evolve and embrace the spirit of being a learner not a knower.
    Salary and Benefit Information:

    The pay range for this role is $45,000 to $50,000 per year.   • Director of Advancement

    Allendale Columbia School (AC), a diverse, co-educational, college prep independent school serving more than 350 students in Little School (18mo-36mo) - Grade 12, seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and goal-oriented Director of Advancement to lead and oversee all fundraising efforts at the school. The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented professional who demonstrates both strategic and tactical acumen, as well as the ability to utilize each when necessary. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about all aspects of fundraising, highly organized, entrepreneurial in nature, enthusiastic, trustworthy, confident, and capable of collaborating and executing with teams throughout the organization.

    The Director of Advancement will play a vital role in the AC community. They will report to the Head of School and sit on the Leadership Team. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to a fun learning community that values creativity and innovative advancement ideas.

    Key Areas of Responsibility:
    • Work collaboratively as a member of the Leadership Team to advance the school;
    • Work collaboratively with Admissions, Marketing and Communications, and the Business office to successfully promote a coordinated advancement strategy for AC;
    • Lead strategic development and alumni relations strategies aligned with the financial goals of the school and the overall strategic priorities;
    • Manage office budget and work with the Business Office on budget projections;
    • Supervise Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Engagement (a role focused on the annual fund, gift processing, and database management);
    • Set fundraising objectives, alumni engagement goals, and solicitation strategies with the advancement team;
    • Evaluate and benchmark results of fundraising and engagement activities regularly, and routinely report to the Board of Trustees;·   
    • Develop and implement strategies to identify and cultivate opportunities for annual fund donors to increase their giving levels
    • Maintain and update a robust prospect list, creating tailored engagement strategies for each prospect to drive movement toward major gifts and annual fund contributions.
    • Create, review, and approve all proposals and gift agreements prior to asks;
    • With the partnership of the Assistant Director, take ownership of the annual fund, the gala, grants, and volunteer engagement;
    • Cultivate and steward lifelong loyalty to AC through effective and consistent communications (i.e. quarterly alumni e-newsletter), increased alumni engagement, and increased donor engagement;
    • Serve as the staff liaison to the AC Alumni Board, including attending all Alumni Board meetings and keeping the President of the Alumni Board apprised of activities and actions;
    • Steward gifts made to the School and plan the next campaign;
    • Foster a vibrant culture of philanthropy so that giving of time and financial resources is a joyful, inclusive, and meaningful experience for donors and volunteers; and serve as the primary staff support for the Development Committee and the Committee on Trustees and contribute to other board committees as needed.
    Skills and Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree preferred, with a minimum of five years of fundraising experience with supervisory experience;
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills with marketing and communications experience;
    • Successful track record of major gift solicitations and campaign management;
    • Experience managing volunteers, including members of governing boards;
    • Highly energetic and enthusiastic personality with excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and time management skills;
    • Ability to supervise a team in a manner that will maximize their individual talents and inspire professional growth;

  • Director of Summer Programs and Auxiliary Revenue

    Allendale Columbia School (AC), a diverse, co-educational, college prep independent school serving more than 350 students in Little School (18mo-36mo) - Grade 12, seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and goal-oriented Director of Summer Programs and Auxiliary Revenue to drive the growth and success of our summer camp programs while developing and managing additional revenue-generating initiatives. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, team-oriented professional with both strategic vision and hands-on operational expertise, capable of seamlessly transitioning between high-level program development and day-to-day execution. Additionally, the ideal candidate is a highly organized, entrepreneurial, and enthusiastic leader who is trustworthy, confident, and adept at collaborating across teams to drive execution and achieve strategic goals.
    The Director of Summer Programs and Auxiliary Revenue will report to the CEO and will be responsible for expanding AC3’s PreK–5th grade summer camp into an 8-week program with a goal of enrolling 100+ students. In addition to overseeing summer programming, this role will develop and manage auxiliary revenue streams, including facility rentals, merchandise sales, community events, weekend workshops, and extracurricular activities. This role is ideal for a proactive and results-driven leader with a passion for youth programming, strategic growth, and financial sustainability.
    Key Areas of Responsibility:
     
    Summer Programs
    • Program Development & Expansion: Lead, enhance, and oversee the growth of AC3’s summer camp programming.
    • Marketing & Outreach: Develop and implement marketing strategies to increase camp enrollment and engage families.
    • Staffing & Training: Recruit, hire, and train camp staff while fostering a professional and positive work environment.
    • Operational Leadership: Serve as the on-site Camp Director, managing daily operations and ensuring a safe, engaging experience for campers and staff.

    • Facility Rentals: Expand AC’s facility rental revenue stream by establishing new relationships and securing substantial year-round rental contracts.

    • Client Relations & Logistics: Serve as the primary point of contact for rental clients, coordinating logistics with relevant AC teams to ensure seamless execution.

  • Part-time After School Program Instructor (Full days on School Vacation & Holidays)

    All Rainbow Room teachers help to generate games and projects; facilitate group games; play sports and engage in other types of play with the students; as well as lead projects such as cooking, writing, arts and crafts, photography, treasure hunts, and more. Important skills include the ability to help resolve conflicts and help students to try new things in the safety and comfort of our nourishing environment. Rainbow Room teachers instill cooperative community values, such as using manners and having empathy for their peers and community as a whole. Most importantly, Rainbow Room teachers try to make the after school time as fun as it can possibly be! A Bachelor's degree and experience with children are preferred.

  • Substitute Teacher

    Allendale Columbia is seeking experienced and dynamic educators to join a team of professionals responsible for innovative, authentic, and student-centered learning in various subject areas for Lower, Middle and Upper School grade levels (Nursery - Grade 12).

    Duties to Include the Following:
    • Carry out lesson plan instructions from the classroom teacher, and/or create lesson plans in absence of a prepared lesson
    • Take attendance according to school procedure each morning
    • Supplement lesson plans with your own class activities if lessons end early
    • Create and maintain a discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and productive learning environment
    Qualifications:
    • Experience working with students
    • Experience/skills in working with collaborative relationships
    • Good knowledge of behavior management techniques with children
    • Flexibility and patience with an ever-changing schedule day to day
